Small update just to keep this on my mind until the summer.

I love April. There is so much to do around town.

This weekend, I went to The Highland Games. It was so much smaller than the Renaissance festival that I attend every year. This only made it better due to the fact that I didn't have to push my way through people to get from point A to B. AND they had a vendor that sold scones with clotted cream! I haven't had clotted cream in about four years. It was amazing! I was going to buy some, but then decided I would try my hand at making it. We will see how that goes. Watching the actual games was fascinating. They were athletes competing to go on to the world championship, which takes place in France this year, yet it seemed so much more approachable. Plus, watching men throw giant 65 pound poles as far as they could and watching them throw packed hay 20-35 feet in the air was fascinating. I also was able to buy (which I shouldn't have due to the car and my washing machine breaking and an exorbitant medical bill this month), two handmade necklaces. I love buying everything claddagh. Granted, that might be because I somehow manage to lose everything claddagh. Which is frustrating to say the least. I am sure they are all together in a "safe place" but as to where that might be *shrugs*

Next weekend is PirateFest, which should also be amazing! I haven't been, but I heard that people build pirate ships and sink them. Then Foodie Fest, then an Indian Food Festival. I am going to be eating out of food trucks for a while, but that's not why I love them. They're fun, different, and just what I genuinely enjoy. I mean, the food is pretty good too! I REALLY hope that Foodie Fest has the Duck Confit Grilled Cheese because that may be the best thing that I have ever eaten. The Lobster Bacon Mac and Cheese wasn't bad either.

Anyway, I may have something resembling summer plans. Nothing too exciting, but my coworker and I are going to read a book on teaching students to question and form a little book club. We will see if we like it in our classrooms, test it out, and if it is worth sharing, perhaps teach it to others. We will see how it goes. She is an amazing teacher with a lot of experience in a lot of different environments, so if she feels that it is worthwhile, it probably is.

Anyway, I have to resist the urge to buy a paper cutter so I can cut my Dungeons and Dragons cards exactly before I laminate them. Which would only be further procrastination from these essays that are sitting in front of me. I really need to grade these essays.

Until next time.

Amanda Specific Fail

So, I was trying to order a cake at the Walmart across the street from school for NJHS (trying--long story) when on my way out I passed by prosciutto and I thought, "That sounds delicious!" So I pulled out my phone, and went into Google. What came up was a prosciutto recipe with chicken and I thought, "My culinary adventures can start today!" So it did. But see, I skimmed the recipe, decided not to get Asiago cheese because I thought it was to top off the dish and I already had shredded Parmesan in my fridge. It was not just to garnish or for flavor. It was a legitimate ingredient. So after frying up the prosciutto, chicken, broccoli (which was microwaved admittedly and from a bag, but I did fry it at the end to season in with minced garlic. I didn't want to buy a whole head of broccoli and deal with cutting it--I am not good at cutting). This part went well. I didn't even overcook the chicken which is a huge deal if you are me. Lastly, I had to save a...

The Why of It All

Now bare with me. I am getting to the "why" of this whole blog and the inspiration behind it. It's a bit of a process and, honestly, a bit out of character for me to create. I have a Facebook, and live online, but I never post to my Facebook, don't use Twitter (unless you count the account I started so I could look up spoilers to TV shows on my phone--and never once tweeted on), and accidentally created an Instagram (which I have never looked at). So the idea of me posting anything online is rather baffling. But I find myself a lot more comfortable with the blog format. Largely because I don't expect anyone, except me, to look at this. And I ultimately think that is why I am more comfortable about it. It also helps that I do not really know how this works. So, how this all started... Yesterday, I was discussing summer plans with a coworker. Other than obligatory "lesson plan," I realized that for the first time in my adult life, I have no concrete su...
